On Tuesday 28th October, we opened the doors at our Brindley Court bakery for a very special event, a hands-on open day for anyone looking for work or simply curious about what goes on behind the scenes here at Povey’s Oatcakes.
And what a brilliant day it was.
First off, a massive thank you to everyone who popped in for a brew, had a chat, or rolled up their sleeves to have a go at packing and production.
From 6am to 2pm, we welcomed a steady stream of local faces, some looking for new opportunities, others just wanting to get a feel for what food production is really like. There was no pressure, just a friendly chance to experience the working day at Povey’s.
Whether you stayed for ten minutes or the full half hour, we truly appreciate you taking the time.
And to the lovely local who left us this comment:
“Innovative employer, love this opportunity. I’m working, but if I wasn’t, I’d be there quick as a flash. Wonder if they have a chief taster’s role vacant!”
We hear you and we’ll definitely keep that in mind!
We wanted to give people a real, honest look at the roles we’re hiring for:
From packing oatcakes and prepping ingredients to keeping things moving on the bakery floor, it’s all part of the work that keeps our customers happy and our shelves stocked.
Many of our team started out just like this, giving it a go with no previous experience and quickly becoming a valued part of the Povey’s family.
If you missed the open day but are still interested in joining us, don’t worry, we’re still looking for new team members!
No experience? No problem. We’ll give you full training and a warm welcome. All you need is a positive attitude and a willingness to muck in.
Location: Povey’s Oatcakes, Brindley Court, Prospect Way, Knypersley, ST8 7PP
